The year isn’t getting off to the best start here at Casa Wallace. I accidentally resent my clock when I setting my alarm last night. As a result, I got up at 5am, thinking it was an hour later. It wasn’t until I’d made coffee and fed the cats that I realized the error. By then, I was wide awake. The cats, btw, were thrilled because breakfast came an hour earlier. I have a suspicion that I’ll be reminded of this tomorrow.
But back to point of this post, which is the 260-Day Challenge. It is my personal challenge to blog every business morning.
Last fall, I had a chat with Claire Taylor, author of Sustaining Your Author Career, about Enneagrams. After taking an indepth Enneagram quiz, I discovered that I am a Type 2, which for those of you who don’t follow Enneagrams, is categorized as The Helper. Helpers like – you guessed it – helping people. But, it’s more than just liking to help and mentor. Type 2 Enneagrams prioritize relationships with friends and family. We value community and authenticity.
What does this have to do with blogging every morning?
As you know, I’m between genres. I have a proposal out right now that I hope will become my next historical fiction novel. This waiting period is the perfect time to start community-building. What better way than to chat online every day so people can get to know me?
Now I could do this through social media, but that takes being online a lot, and frankly, that’s time I need to use for writing. Substack is great, but the subscription component makes interacting with other substackers difficult. Plus it clogs people’s inboxes. And I don’t want to do a newsletter until I have book release information.
But blogging… blogging gives readers the power to read the content they like when they want to read it. Hence, the 260-day blogging challenge. I have challenged myself to write a little something to you all Monday through Friday throughout 2025. It might be a book review. It might be stories about my cats. It might be updates on my WIP. Most of my posts will be short and sweet, unless I’ve got something big on my mind.
I plan to share links to the blogs on social media. I hope that over time, you’ll visit and even comment.
